Susan Isenberg, Ph.D.

Susan Isenberg is an associate professor of andragogy in the Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership - Andragogy Emphasis degree program at Lindenwood University, which she co-founded in 2010.

She earned a PhD degree in adult education from the University of Missouri. With three decades of experience in healthcare, she managed the development and early implementation of BJC Health System’s WellAware employee wellness program. After nearly five years of international human factor consulting with the McLaughlin Young Group, she returned to St. Louis healthcare to manage a 2-year education program turnaround and then to direct a 2-year hospital-wide transformation to a new patient care model at Christian Hospital that engaged all employees in the process.

In 2004, Dr. Isenberg created an online program titled Virtual Health Coach at www.virtualhealthcoach.com in partnership with the United States Air Force with a grant from GlaxoSmithKline pharmaceutical company and was accessible to all five branches of military service to improve the health of military personnel.

Her research interests include andragogy applications face-to-face and online. Publications include a book, Applying Andragogical Principles to Internet Learning in 2007, journal articles, and book chapters. She co-authored two papers for an international information systems conference (EMCIS) in Athens, Greece and Munich, Germany on a new e-learning concept and media selection in online learning in 2010 and 2011 that won the Best Theoretical Paper award two years in a row.
